Case study
Case study: a Dubai directory that keeps itself up to date
· 4 min read
A directory is only trusted if it is right today. DogParksDubai was built so that staying right does not depend on somebody remembering to check.
The problem with directories
Dubai dog owners were relying on group chats and posts from two summers ago. Half the information was fine; the other half sent people to a park that had closed.
Getting the listings right once is easy. Keeping them right every week is the actual job — and that is the part automation does well.
What runs on its own
Each of these sits behind something you can see on the site.
- 1.Search and filters: opening hours, facilities and access details are re-checked on a schedule.
- 2.Park pages: visitors describe their dog and get a shortlist instead of a map full of pins.
- 3.Sign-up: new listings and seasonal warnings are gathered into a weekly digest draft, ready to approve.
- 4.Submissions: reader suggestions arrive checked, tidied and grouped, so moderation takes minutes.
The result
The site now sees between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors a day — a real, confirmed figure rather than an estimate. Most routine listing updates happen without anyone touching them, which gives back several hours a week.
